Community Outreach

Southminster is proud of its community involvement. Below is a partial list of the agencies and efforts we support.

PRESBYTERIAN VILLAGE
Southminster participates in Santa’s Express providing gifts for aging residents at Christmas time. Southminster also works with the Presbyterian Village Auxiliary, and contributes to the Caring Hands Fund. In May of each year Southminster leads Vespers for the residents.

MUST Ministries
Southminster helps serve meals at Elizabeth Inn, a part of MUST Ministries. MUST strives to break the cycle of poverty in the community by assessing individual needs and providing programs and services that can improve the quality of life. For information please go to www.mustministries.org.

C.A.M.P. - SWEETWATER VALLEY COMMUNITY ACTION MISSION PROGRAM
Southminster donates school supplies and other essentials. Sweetwater Valley C.A.M.P. provides services to citizens of South Cobb County living in the communities of Austell, Mableton, Clarkdale, and Powder Springs. CAMP provides clothing, food, emergency financial assistance, and medical services. CAMP has volunteer staffed medical and dental facilities. Please see www.svcamp.org for more information.

COBB FAITH PARTNERSHIP
Southminster participates in Cobb Faith Partnership and refers requests for assistance to Christian Doers, which is a part of the Cobb Faith Collaborative. The Cobb Faith Partnership (CFP) works to promote unity in sharing God’s love in the Cobb County community. In connecting, communicating and promoting the important efforts of faith-based outreach ministries, CFP helps our community to build collaborative solutions to pressing issues. Please see www.cobbfaithpartnership.org for more information.

THORNWELL HOME AND SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN
Southminster collects Campbell soup labels to help provide school supplies for the young people at Thornwell School and also collects coins for special gifts and needs at Thanksgiving. The Thornwell Home & School for Children in Clinton, South Carolina, has been taking care of children and youth in need since its founding on October 1, 1875. Please see www.thornwell.org for more information.
